As part of WCA’s continuing Climate and Environment commitment, as well as providing value-added services for its members, we have formed ongoing Climate Partnerships with organisations such as NGOs, thinktanks and events providers. This will allow knowledge sharing between WCA and our Climate Partner, giving the cement industry a voice and platform outside of its traditional silos, as well as fostering new partnerships, collaborations and ideas between our industry, other hard-to-abate sectors and the wider climate movement.
If you are interested in becoming a WCA Climate Partner, or would like to contact or collaborate with one of our Partners, please contact Natalija Jovasevic (

Smart Surfaces Coalition
The Smart Surfaces Coalition is committed to the rapid, cost-effective global adoption of smart surfaces to enable cities to thrive despite climate threats, save cities billions of dollars, create jobs, decrease heat, reduce flood risk, slow global warming, and improve city livability, health, and equity.
Currently, the vast majority of roofs, roads, pavements, and other public spaces are built with dark, non-porous materials that absorb heat and radiate it into the air. This increases city temperatures, leading to the Urban Heat Island effect (UHI) and is the main reason cities are on average hotter than surrounding suburban and rural areas.
Smart surfaces include reflective (cool) roofs and pavements, porous pavements, green roofs, solar PV, trees, and combinations of these surfaces.
