21 September 2026 - Philippe Richart, CEO of the WCA, recently visited Mannok’s cement plant in Derrylin, County Fermanagh, located on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Mannok is a prominent and active member of the WCA, and during the visit, Philippe sat down with Kevin Lunney, Chief Operating Officer at Mannok Holdings DAC, to discuss the company’s significant achievements and very ambitious future practical decarbonisation journey.
The visit came against the backdrop of the European Commission’s recent proposal to revise the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), an important step in the ongoing effort to balance climate ambition with industrial competitiveness. It also highlighted an increasingly important message for the cement industry: many of the solutions needed to significantly reduce the sector’s carbon footprint are already being developed and deployed on the ground.
