22 April 2022 - The World Cement Association is calling on cement companies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to take action, as the world’s attention is set on decarbonisation efforts in the region in light of upcoming COP27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt and 2023’s COP28 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. All eyes are on the commitments and actions of the region’s oil and gas sector; however, cement manufacturing in MENA is also significant, making up around 15% of the world’s total production.
London, 20 December 2021 – The World Cement Association has today announced the unanimous approval of its proposed Climate Policy and the re-election of Mr Cui Xingtai (Chairman of CUCC) to the Board of Directors at its fifth General Assembly, which took place virtually this month. The Climate Policy focuses on accelerating the decarbonisation of the cement and concrete industry by encouraging and supporting members to set ambitious targets on reducing CO2 emissions, and fostering collaboration both along the supply chain and across industries.
London, 12 May 2021 – The World Cement Association announced today the launch of its Climate Partnership programme, under which it will collaborate with organisations such as NGOs, thinktanks and sustainability-focussed events providers, as part of its continuing Climate and Environment commitment. Three organisations have already signed up to be Climate Partners: Climate Action, Decarb Connect, and Smart Surfaces Coalition.
London, 6th September 2020 –The World Cement Association announced today its Knowledge Partnership with Decarb Connect, an organisation which supports the scale and acceleration of industrial decarbonisation.
In this interview with China Cement Net, CUCC Chairman, Mr Cui Xingtai discusses how the cement industry can contribute to China's economic recovery, how CUCC is working to combat the epidemic and the company's plans for future development as well as those of the wider cement industry.
