Dr Daniel Summerbell is Co-Founder and Chief Solutions Officer at Gigaton (formerly Carbon Re) and a Visiting Industrial Fellow at the Institute for Manufacturing. With a background in process engineering across a range of industries in the US, Canada & Europe, he began a programme of research into the cement industry in 2014.Dan's PhD research focused on cost-effective environmental improvements in industry, with a particular focus on construction and the cement industry. He is the developer of the Zero Loss Sustainability Toolkit and other interests include industrial demand-side management of electricity, and material efficiency approaches.
Prior to pursuing a research career, he worked in manufacturing operations across the UK, Europe and North America, including in the consumer products, food & drink, mining and energy industries.

Clinker Factor Guest: Engagement and Impact Lead, Climate Action for Associations (CAFA)
Guillaume Lane is Engagement and Impact Lead at Climate Action for Associations (CAFA), the resource and network dedicated to sustainability and net zero for the membership sector, on a mission to speed up business and industry decarbonisation. His work is a two-way translation: bringing the association voice into the climate space, and the climate voice into the association space. Day to day that means supporting CAFA's members on sector strategy, internal emissions, decarbonisation and cross-sector coordination, and providing contributions to broader climate and sustainability projects on CAFA's or members' behalf.
He has contributed to ISO 14060, the Net Zero Aligned Organizations Standard now in international public consultation, and co-founded the French biodiversity and law NGO Biodiversité Sous Nos Pieds. His earlier research covers public attitudes to nuclear and renewable power generation, and collective decision-making in France's Citizens' Convention on Climate, written for the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. He is based in Bristol.
