London 14 November 2023 - The World Cement Association's (WCA) Annual Conference took place from the 24th to the 25th of October in Dubai, with a focus on "Improving Profitability in a Time of Multiple Global Crises." The gathering of senior cement sector leaders highlighted two critical challenges facing the industry: widespread overcapacity and the transition to a net-zero carbon future.

Ian Riley, WCA CEO, has been interviewed by Gulf Construction on the challenges the the cement industry faces in terms of reducing its emissions and the range of revolutionary technologies that are available to help the industry achieve its goals.
The WCA Innovation Award 2023 was awarded to Huaxin Cement’s Huangshi Plant for their "Development and Application of Low Carbon and Nitrogen Reduction Ultra Large Scale Cement Production Technology and Equipment" project.

London 31 October 2023 - The World Cement Association (WCA) has appointed Wei Rushan to be President of the Association, replacing Founding President, Song Zhiping, on his retirement last week. Mr. Wei is is President and Executive Director of China National Building Materials Co. Ltd. (CNBM), the world's largest cement producer.
